Dear Sons,
Some administrative matters and announcements for you all to take note in chronological order:
1) No cell following week as it will be our tribe meeting. Tribe meeting will be on Sunday 29th April after service. It will be held at one of the Omega Rooms in Hall 10 itself. I will update you all on exact location. I would like to see all of you there even if you have to leave early, just come down for a while; you’ll be blessed even for that short time. =)
2) From May onwards cell will be on Saturday. 1st week (6th May) will be at my place at 1030am. Will see you guys at Pasir Ris MRT station at 1015am.
3) From May onwards, since cell will be on Saturdays, Sundays will be reserved for meeting up with you guys one on one. As for Andrew, I will continue to correspond with you through e-mail.
4) As such, from today onwards please book my time through the cell blog. Meaning, please start putting down who wants to meet me on 7th May, 13th May, 20th May etc.Another thing, I still haven’t received your goals and they have not been put up on the blog. So before I meet up with any of you, I would want to see your goals on the blog prior to the meeting up. Example, if on 7th May I’m supposed to meet Aaron, then before that Aaron must put his goal on the blog. Please send your goals to Flavian to put up on the blog. Thanks Flavian. Since it is going to be on the blog, it is not possible to put up every single goal you may have. Thus I only require you put up 3 that you don’t mind sharing with the rest of the cell. One should be a personal goal, one should be for your family and one should be for your school/army camp. Remember to use the SMART goals format and the framework of Go Deep, Look Far and Ask Big.
5) Since from May onwards, we have more time for cell group, I like to incorporate 3 more “MUST HAVEs” in cell in addition to the study of the book.
- Worship (~20mins)
- Bible Update (~10mins) (to recap what Livingstones have been reading for the whole week in the daily Bible reading and to share a devotional thought)
- Prayer (~10mins)
We will try to finish everything within 1hr including the book (pray hard!! Heh) and the rest of the time will be for fellowship, makan etc. As such, I would like to break you all up into teams of 4 to lead the 3 areas I mentioned above. Each team will lead for one month before passing on to the other team.
Team 1) Boon Bing (Team Leader), Marcus, Clarence, Aaron
Team 2) Zhengrong (Team Leader), Flavian, Hubert, Raegan
Reserve Team: Andrew (Team Leader), Justyn, Tony, Andy, Hubert’s friend, (forgot his name, the one who came for Miracle service)
So team 1 will start duties in May (May only got 2 cell meetings…..very lucky…..heh) anything unsure please ask me.
6) Jackie Pullinger Conference on May 12th Saturday from 2pm -930pm at Expo. This will replace cell for the week. I will be there and I highly encourage all of us to be there. I will pass you all the form for you all to sign up. It’s $5 per person and it includes dinner and tea break. Remember I did say last year that one of the cell goals this year was to do community service together as a form of reaching out and blessing the community. So let us go and really catch God’s heart for the poor. There won’t be YA on that day.
7) Encounter Weekends!! 17 and below: 25th-27th May (Praise Haven); 18 and above: 18th-20th May (Praise Haven) $30 per person. Those who want to go must let me know IMMEDIATELY!!! Aaron and Andy, you haven’t gotten back to me.
8) Global Day of Prayer at Singapore Indoor Stadium at 7pm. May 27th Sunday. This will replace cell. Join with Christians around the world to pray for our respective nations!! Highly encouraged to go!!!
9) Tribe Camp will be from June 7-10. Registration has been opened. The cost is $45 each. I expect all to be there unless you really have a valid reason not to be there. It will be held at Praise Haven near Dairy Farm. I can further subsidize $15 per person if you really need help financially. (Speak to me individually) However when I sign you up and you don’t turn up, you will pay the full cost and it’s $60 not $45. Do go, the committee has really been spending time planning it and I believe you will surely encounter God at this camp. It’s called Camp Gilgal. Read Joshua 5 to understand what Gilgal means. I will pass you all the form to sign up at cell this week too. In conjunction, we will be launching our Livingstones T-Shirt!! $10 per piece. Let me know ur size and number of shirts you want at the next cell meeting. And bring the money too.
Spiritual Dad,
AlvinDear sons,
I’m not one of those who likes to send or forward stories on e-mail etc, but the below one is one of those that really caught my attention. Haven’t verified if the silver refining process is really like that, but if it is so, it really is such a beautiful picture of what God is doing in our lives. Hope this blesses you and encourages you that God is keeping His eyes firmly fixed on you until He sees His reflection in you. =)
Agape,
Alvin
Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.
One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"
He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.
